FINAL BLOG
I think blogging was a good experience for me. Sometimes just putting thoughts down is good to get stuff of your chest. My favorite topic this year to blog about was when I talked about the Civil Wars. My least favorite blog this year was talking about the Harlem Renaissance. Most of the time i put some effort into my blogs, but other times if i was in a rush to finish i would quickly breeze through some of my blogs. I learned how to sorts all of my ideas into a little amount of space from blogging. My favorite stories we read this year were The Crucible, anyone lived in a pretty how town, and the one about the guy who got hung.
Advice
Hello Miss Wolff Junior English is a great class. One thing with Juniors is making sure everyone in class is interested at one point at the year. I know that everyone will not be into everything you do, but doing different stuff throughout the year to interest everyone in the class is a good thing to do. Also having at least one book throughout the year that is a great read is good to keep people interested.
Gatsby Blog
I believe that since The Great Gatsby took place during the jazz age jazz music would be a good fit for it. I think the first i would choose would be "Charleston" by James P. Johnson. This would be a good song because during the twenties this was a very popular song to dance to and would fit well in one of Gatsby's parties. Another good song would be "St. Louis Blues" by W.C. Handy. This would be a good song because it talks about a hopeless love and his girl is leaving town and this is kind of like Daisy and Gatsby.
Mark Twain
"A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval." I think that this is a very true quote. A lot of times in life some people may be pressured to do things they do not want to do and it makes them feel uncomfortable. Whether it is the clothes they were or the shows they watch people will do anything to "be cool." This quote says how man should not worry about what other people say and just be themselves. If you live life the way you want to you will have no regrets and you can be comfortable with your life other than doing stuff that will make you uncomfortable.

The Civil Wars
The Civil Wars is a music group from Nashville, Tennessee consisting of Joy Williams and John Paul White. They have an incredible talent to live their music and bring it out in the most incredible way possible. This band brings together a unique blend of folk, blues, and alternative country. Their amazing harmonies bring a new style of music that captures the ear. I have been listening to The Civil Wars for around a year now and I have loved them since the beginning. They have been nominated for several awards and won a few, including two Grammy's this year in "Best Folk Album" and "Best Country Duo/Group Performance" for their song Barton Hallow. The Civil Wars is a band that everyone should know about and they have been b lessed by God with an amazing talent to bring music to this world.
Civil Rights Movement
Back during the Civil Rights movement there was a sit in with kids from North Carolina A&T College. These kids were freshman and they were refused their food. Because of this, they continued to sit there in a sign of protest. They returned each and everyday for the sit in. Eventually there were thousands of protesters at this building. The sit ins actually spread over 13 states. This reminds me of the story we read in class about the sit in. I think it is horrible that people let this happen to other human beings.
Harlem
One person I looked at was Duke Ellington. Ellington was one of the leading figures in jazz music throughout the Renascence era.The sisters thought about all the music that went on during this time. Duke Ellington was like a music prodigy from birth. He started playing piano at age six and he never looked back. Duke Ellington change music for the best and is one of the most well known jazz music players. Sadie and Bessie loved their time in Harlem and would not change it for the world.

Having Your Say
One thing that I feel very strong about is commitment. For example, if someone has a commitment to a team and they give very poor effort that upsets me. If you sign up for something i expect that you will give everything for the betterment of the team and yourself. I feel like if you do not want to give your full effort than you should not even be there. Someone can earn my full respect if they give all they can in whatever they do one-hundred percent of the time.
Tom Feelings

This is a picture made by Tom Feelings. This picture shows a slave chained up. This also possibly shows slaves trying to escape and the owners chasing after them. Many slaves tried to escape when they were owned and many escaped. However, many got captured and when they got back to the plantation it was way worse of for them then before they left. Some slaves when they were in the boats in the Middle Passage would jump off because they figured life would be better dead than living as slaves for the rest of their lives.
Connections from Whitman
"The mother at home quietly placing the dishes on the supper-table" This part of the poem reminds me a lot of my childhood. For a mjority of the time when i was a little kid my mom was a stay at home mom. I would always look forward coming home from school to see my mom and whatever she did during the day. After playing for a while my mom would call me for dinner and there would be a warm dinner on the table. This is something i really enjoy about my family being able to sit down for dinner. My family still has sit down dinners as much as we can til this day.
Emily Dickinson's Garden of Poetry
What is -- "Paradise"-- Emily Dickinson
What is -- "Paradise" --
Who live there --
Are they "Farmers" --
Do they "hoe" --
Do they know that this is "Amherst" --
And that I -- am coming -- too --
Do they wear "new shoes" -- in "Eden" --
Is it always pleasant -- there --
Won't they scold us -- when we're homesick --
Or tell God -- how cross we are --
You are sure there's such a person
As "a Father" -- in the sky --
So if I get lost -- there -- ever --
Or do what the Nurse calls "die" --
I shan't walk the "Jasper" -- barefoot --
Ransomed folks -- won't laugh at me --
Maybe -- "Eden" a'n't so lonesome
As New England used to be!
Who live there --
Are they "Farmers" --
Do they "hoe" --
Do they know that this is "Amherst" --
And that I -- am coming -- too --
Do they wear "new shoes" -- in "Eden" --
Is it always pleasant -- there --
Won't they scold us -- when we're homesick --
Or tell God -- how cross we are --
You are sure there's such a person
As "a Father" -- in the sky --
So if I get lost -- there -- ever --
Or do what the Nurse calls "die" --
I shan't walk the "Jasper" -- barefoot --
Ransomed folks -- won't laugh at me --
Maybe -- "Eden" a'n't so lonesome
As New England used to be!
I think this poem is talking about what heaven is going to be like. Emily Dickinson is trying to guess waht the afterlife is going to be like. She talks about if there is someone in the sky. Whether it is her "Father" or a supreme being she knows that there is someone there she can look up to. At the end of the poem, she compares heaven to New England saying it will not be lonely and maybe the after life is a place to look forward to than to fear.

Wrestling
Everyday when i wake up i look forward to the day. This time of the year is wrestling season and it is always one of my favotire times of the year. Practing always energizes me and gets me ready for the challenges that are up ahead. I am glad for this positive part in my life because with out it i would get extremely bored in the winter. Being with my teammates is something that i always love and i always hate to see the season pass by as quickly as it always does...
My Experience with Nature
Every year my family goes camping up in Wisconsin. This tradition has been in my family for over 50 years when my great-grandpa started it. When i am up there all communications with the outside world are lost and this is when I truely feel connected with nature. I spend a lot of time by the water fishing. Whenever i fish it is so relaxing and i feeling connected with the nature around me. I do a lot of thinking during this time period and some of my best ideas came up when I do this. I am always excited when this time of the year comes up and I am looking forward to it next summer!

Team Edgar
I am definitely on Team Edgar. Ever since I started reading his works I really enjoyed his literature. I love how he uses sensory imagery in his stories. My favorite story of his is "The Pit and the Pendulum". In this story I feel it is very fasted paced and keeped me at the edge of my seat. I enjoy how weird his stories are and it is fun to read. The only thing I did not like about his stories is that he ends his stories very stupidly sometimes, especially in The Pit and the Pendulum.
